Symphony for Ka¯ piti

-

People can enjoy the music of Bach, and get up close with the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra, at the Ka¯ piti Performing Arts Centre on Saturday March 7.

Goldberg Variations, directed by NZSO Concertmaster Vesa-Matti Leppa¨ nen, presents JS Bach’s baroque masterpiece with the variations performed on a variety of instruments.

Bach’s Goldberg Variations was first written for harpischord and while some of the 30 variations will be performed on the instrument, a selection will be performed by the NZSO on string instruments arranged by Russian violinist Dmitry Sitkovetsky and others on a variety of instruments arranged by German conductor Heribert Breuer.

“The different instruments will add a huge amount of colour to the variations, making an already exquisite work even more mesmerising for audiences,” Leppa¨ nen said.

Tickets to Goldberg Variations are available via eventfinda.co.nz
