Stepping out at 50-plus

-

The Ka¯ piti Coast is a thriving part of our economy and it has its fair share of entrepreneurs who at 50-plus decided to start their own business.

A growing number of people in this age group, want to work, but they also want greater flexibility, independence and life balance in how they go about this.

Three local entrepreneurs initiated the Enterprising at 50 Plus Network last year to encourage other self-starters in the community to come together to meet, network, share ideas and lessons learned and to support one another to be successful.

“We found there was a great deal of interest and enthusiasm in forming the network, and an enormous amount of skills and experience between us,” the network’s Angela Robertson said.

The next Enterprising at 50 Plus Network meeting is on Monday February 24 from 6.30pm to 8pm, at the Paraparaumu Library meeting room.

“We’ll be focusing on setting ourselves up for success with support from local entrepreneurs Lindsey Gott (Freedom Companion Driving) and Heather Knewstubb (Time Genie) and there will be lots of opportunity to network with others.

“This is a not-for-profit network, there is no membership fee, although we do ask for koha to cover the cost of refreshments.” All 50Plus entrepreneurs, or budding entrepreneurs are most welcome.
