Triathlon cancelled

Following the move into the red traffic light Covid-19 protection framework, the trustees of the Ka¯ piti Women’s Triathlon have reluctantl­y made the decision that it is not possible to proceed with the 2022 event.

“Our trustees agree that the principle of the red setting is designed to reduce the rate of transmissi­on of Covid-19 and therefore there is no feasible strategy for events such as ours to operate and honour the intent of that restrictio­n.

“The last thing we want to do is contribute to the problem and put people and our health system at increased risk.

“It’s also uncertain when NZ will exit the red traffic light framework and where that will leave us in terms of entrants, volunteers, and contractor­s, essential for running the event, so we felt this difficult decision is best being made now.”

All current entries will be transferre­d to (26 Feb) 2023. Merchandis­e purchases will be refunded and those who donated to the KWT will be contacted to determine what your wishes are for those
