Music centre salutes long-time tutors

Dedicated pair have been teaching Ka¯ piti students for a combined 45 years

The Ka¯piti Music Centre board has thanked Jill Duncan and Yemma Barsanti for their longstandi­ng service and commitment to the centre.

“They are highly experience­d music tutors and together they have part of the music centre for over 45 years,” the centre’s Caz Bartholome­w said.

“Both Jill and Yemma have been teaching students to read, play and perform music on various instrument­s mainly keyboard and recorder respective­ly.

“We would also like to congratula­te our tutors, students and parents for the wonderful year of music tuition which culminated in our concert on November 6 at Te Raukura,” said Bartholome­w.

“Our manager Amanda Kemp has pulled us through a tumultuous time with Covid disruption­s and we would also like to thank her for her dedication and outstandin­g work.”

The Ka¯piti Music Centre is a charitable trust and offers affordable group lessons for children aged 4 and up.

“We offer tuition for recorder, keyboard, guitar, bass guitar, clarinet, saxophone, ukulele, rock band, drums, flute, violin and singing.”

Enrolment dates are: Saturday February 12 from 10.30am-12.30pm, and Tuesday February 15 from 5.30pm-7pm at Ka¯piti College.
