CHAIRS’ REPORT

March/April 2022

- Kia ora koutou,

The season has changed, and Easter is almost here. Hopefully for most this will mean a bit of a break and some time to spend with family and friends.

We are delighted by the Government’s recent announcement to lift many Covid restrictions and we’re sure all our local businesses on the Coast are too. The relaxing of many of the current mandate requirements brings much welcome relief for local businesses that have shown incredible resilience in implementing these requirements over the past several months. We now look forward to planning our Chamber events calendar and seeing you all in person!

Speaking of events, we’ve been continuing to implement a range of interesting happenings here at the Kāpiti Coast Chamber of Commerce, including our new webinar series in partnership with Kāpiti Coast District Council - “Coming To Your Front Room”. The sessions involve a range of panellists in a Q&A format and are designed to support local businesses with vital information and experienced perspectives during unprecedented times. The first session was very well received, so for more information on upcoming times and panellists, head to the Chamber website.

We are also looking forward to hosting our first New Members event, which is currently in the works. If you are a new (or new-ish!) Chamber member, we’d love to see you there. Keep an eye on our social media channels for details or register your interest by emailing bdm@kapitichamber.org.nz.

Lastly, we are thrilled to see movement on the opening of Transmission Gully, and if all goes to plan, the road will finally be open by the time this goes to print. It’s a long overdue and vital connection between the capital and Kāpiti, and we can’t wait to see the positive impacts on our business community and local economy as commute times are reduced and traffic pressures eased.

To find out more about all Chamber happenings and events, our website is a great source of information, as well as offering a wealth of relevant resources. Head online to find out more about joining the Kāpiti Coast Chamber of Commerce and the exclusive member benefits on offer, as well as checking out our key partners, who are vital in supporting us to do the work we do.

We look forward to catching up with everyone soon.

Monique Leith and Heather Hutchings, Co-Chairs.
