Royal waves in estuary

photographed these royal spoonbills at the Waikanae River estuary on Sunday afternoon at low tide. The juvenile was noisily pestering its parents for food all the time. Every now and then they would allow it to put its bill right down their throats to suck up some of the fishy ‘soup’ in their gut. Quite an amusing and endearing sight for the onlookers.
