Write Your Story - A series of 5-weekly community workshops commence on Friday 13th May, 9.30-12noon – first session will be held in the meeting room at Paraparaum­u Library. Be inspired! Join our group and get started on your writing project. Capture your memories or family history in a supportive, fun environmen­t. All you need is an open mind, a pen, and a notebook. Celebratin­g Mother’s Day Exhibition – The Kāpiti Coast Older Persons’ Council are holding an exhibition to acknowledg­e Mother’s Day. Come read locally written short stories, poems and letters, sharing family mealtime experience­s and the special moments created by Mums. Waikanae Arts and Crafts Society - DON’T MISS OUT! Spaces are filling up for the Mono Print/Collage Class with Nicki Young. These will be held at the Society rooms, 29a Elizabeth St, Waikanae, over two Sundays, 1st and 8th May 2022. Cost, including materials, is $25 for members, $30 for non members. Marianna Martines Concert - to be given by the combined Hutt City Chorale & Voices in the Wind. 250 years after they were composed in Vienna, two magnificen­t choral works are to have what are probably their first performanc­es in Aotearoa-New Zealand. 3pm Saturday 7 May 2022, St Mark’s Church, 58 Woburn Road, Woburn, Lower Hutt & 3pm Sunday 8 May 2022, Aotea College Performing Arts Centre, 2 Frances Brown Avenue, Porirua. $20 for adult ticket and $15 for child/unwaged. Unearth Your Local Potter - are exhibiting at Summerston­e Gallery throughout the month of April. The group has been producing a collection of ceramic works from electric, gas, wood and soda firings. Cancer Society Centre Kāpiti - We are still open and would love to see you. Proof of vaccinatio­n will be required. We will also support unvaccinat­ed whānau through phone or via an outside visit. Community Meal – 11.30am-12.30pm at Coast Community Church, 57 Hinemoa Street Paraparaum­u, every first and third Saturday of the month. All welcome and a 3-course meal provided. Vaccine passes are required for eating in, takeaways are available with no vaccine pass. You can bring a koha if you wish, but not necessary.
