Youth voice heard during Youth Week

Chance for students to have fun and forget Covid

-

“As a team, our goal was to get as many students involved with Youth Week as possible through fun and active events.

“We also used this week to teach the students some basic NZSL to celebrate NZSL Week in the hopes that they will continue to grow their understanding of the language while also doing what we can to improve the values of involvement, spirit, wellbeing, and Parihaka Mai Ai throughout Kāpiti College.”

Encouraging students to change their mindset around coming to school, the head students have worked hard to create an environment where school is enjoyable.

“We want the student body to know that school can also be fun and doesn’t just have to be about grades and study.“Whilst that is a big part of it, it’s important to step back and get involved in more relaxing activities.”

Kāpiti College was supported by Kāpiti Youth Support, Zeal Kāpiti and Kāpiti Coast Youth Council in the running of the events.
