Stories of mum win hampers

-

On Mother’s Day, the Older Persons Council ran a competition inviting people to send in stories and letters about their mum.

The theme for the project was ‘My Mother’s Apron — Stories from the kitchen table’, with a great response from the community.

Organiser Angela Robertson said, “Members of the community were very supportive of this initiative and sent in stories, letters to their mums, photos of their mums and recipes.

“Some of the stories were recorded on video.”

The exhibits were displayed in the gallery at Paraparaumu Library and in Coastlands Garden Court.

The draw for the Mother’s Day hampers was undertaken by Kāpiti

Mayor K Gurunathan, with Grace Terry and Danelle Stella being the winners.

The stories and videos are available to see on the council’s website: www. kapiticoast.govt.nz/yourcouncil/partners/olderpersons-council/.
