Medal haul for lifeguards
Paekā kā riki surf club does well at champs
Several of Paekākāriki’s lifeguards attended the New Zealand Surf Life Saving Championships at Mount Maunganui Beach, Tauranga, last month. More than 1300 lifeguards from 47 clubs nationwide attended the championships, and Paekākāriki came home with great results.

■ Open Male Board Rescue: Bronze — Alexander Cecioni and Max Jones
■ Surf Boat Short Course U23 Male: Silver — Paekākāriki Bird Baths (Otis Hungerford, Hugo Dinnan, Heath Jordan, Mac Van Den Heuvel, Richard Whinham, and Matthew Adshead)
■ Surf Boat Short Course U19 Female: Bronze — Paekākāriki Lulus (Ava Jones, Harriet Jones, Zoe Bailey, Kaya McMahon, and Shane Radovanovich)
■ Surf Boat Long Course U23 Male: Silver — Paekākāriki Bird Baths (Otis Hungerford, Hugo Dinnan, Mac Van Den Heuvel, Heath Jordan, Richard Whinham, and Matthew Adshead)
■ Surf Boat Long Course U23 Female: Bronze — Paekā kā riki Cicadas (Geena Pombo-Vermey, Grace McCarthy, Piper Cannell, Abbie Bognuda, and Ethan Atkinson)
■ Surf Boat Female (Masters 120-159 combined age range): Gold — The OG Mums (Eleanor Craig, Rachel Reid, Amy Garton, Jordan McDowell, Sophia Bridgewater, and Shane Radovanovich)
■ Surf Boat Female (Masters 160-199 combined age range): Gold — The Other Mums (Arlena Porteous, Cara Kellet, Sharlene Ashdown, Mare Haitsma, and Clayton Kellet)
■ Surf Boat Male (Masters combined age range 160-199): Bronze — DNRs (Steve Dickson, Clayton Kellet, Stephen Porteous, Andrew Parker, Marty Wourters, Peter Jones, and Richard Saunders)
■ The Oar (Tops Surf Boat) Club Trophy: 4th (out of 10 clubs)
