Comedy starts season

-

Katikati Theatre is now seven years old and its coming Dinner Theatre will be its seventh season at the Forta Leza Country Restaurant.

This year there is a departure from one-act plays as the group will be performing Building Bridges by Colin Calvert, and directed by Elisabeth Beamish.

The play is a full length comedy, which is well suited to Katikati as a group of environmental volunteers are constructing a boardwalk across a swamp. They are amixed bunch, drawn from very different walks of life and their interplay gives rise to some very funny moments.

Bob, Beryl, Molly and Clive are volunteers under the leadership of paid co-ordinator Trish. Mandy has been assigned to assist them.

This year, due to public demand, Katikati Theatre has added an extra performance.

Due to its popularity, people are advised to book early to prevent disappointment.

Later in the year Katikati Theatre will present Tales From the Lockup featuring local stories.

It will be performed in the Western Bay Museum in conjunction with the 2017 NZ Mural Contest and Arts Festival.

Katikati Theatre welcomes new members, those who enjoy acting and directing, plus backstage helpers and those keen to help them mount their productions.

Dinner Theatre performance dates are Tuesday to Thursday, June 27-29 and Monday to Thursday, July 3-6. Doors open at 6pm. Patrons are asked to be seated by 6.15pm. Tickets cost $45 each (including dinner and the performance) and will be available from Katikopy and Print from Monday, June 12, cash or cheque only, no phone bookings.
