SQUASH

Katikati sent a small team to an action-packed day of the BOP Squash Boys Division 2/3 Champs at Geyser City Squash Club. This great day of competition saw 75 players competing. Depp Bollingford of KKC finished runner-up behind Hayden Collier of Tauranga Boys’ College.

HOCKEY

KKC boys had a big game against Tauranga Boys’ College 2nd on Wednesday night.

Both teamswere fighting for a spot at the top of the THA Boys Division 1 and the game was certainly intense. With U18 representative players in both teams, the skill level and pace of the gamewas very high and end to end.

KKC scored first early in the first half through a good combination that started in the back with quick ball up to Jake Hannah, saw him floor it past the defence and throw a great pass to to Lucas Brydon who put it away.

TBC fought back and equalised in the second half after amessy period in the circle when the KKC defence lost sight of the ball for amoment and it was popped in.

It was a game of attrition for the rest of the match as each team fought for the winning goal, but neither could prevail and the game ended in a draw.

Another top game for Michael Gilliver, Josh Temple in midfield and also Joeb Ibbotson in the pads.

The 1st XI girls also had a big match againstMount Maunganui Girls. Though KKC were on top for large periods of the game, MMCmanaged to come out of top 1-2.

NETBALL

The SeniorAnetball team had a tough game against Matamata Alast Friday night going down 36-46.

The game was off to a rocky start when vice captain Roelien Du Plessiswent down hard on a fall and broke her foot.

The girls struggled to comeback from this, causing players to play out of position and not using the opportunities given.

Great work from Ashley Shanley and Sophia Spurr who continued to work hard for the team and never gave up.

BASKETBALL

The Katikati girls basketball team played Tauranga Girls’ College development team. The girls started off strongly but unfortunately were defeated in the end by approximately 15 points.

The skills of all the players are improving significantly which was great to see.
