The Centre — Pa¯ tuki Manawa to open
The countdown is on to the opening of Katikati’s newest public facility, The Centre — Pa¯ tuki Manawa.
Next Tuesday, August 21 the community is invited to celebrate the centre opening, check out the facility, hear about new features and enjoy a range of free activities and entertainment — including the creation of an artwork on the building by local artist Mr G.
“We’d love for the community to come along, join in and celebrate the opening of this fantastic new facility — a place where people can host events, connect, share ideas, collaborate and innovate,” says district mayor Garry Webber.
The facility comprises a twostorey library and service centre building with a mezzanine floor of 800 square metres, and a 400 square metre community space. Its design provides a central link between Katikati’s main shopping centre and Talisman Drive.

Pa¯ tuki Manawa marks a big step forward in creating a vibrant town centre which the whole Katikati community can be proud of,” says Garry.
Activities on offer from 3pm6pm include tours through the building, free sausage sizzle (thanks to the Katikati Lions Club), and coffee (while stocks last), face painting and balloons for the kids, storytime corner, colouring in competition and other activities, photobooth, art displays from schools and more.
Sixteen of the car parks adjacent to the new building on Talisman Drive will be closed for safety reasons on Tuesday. The rest of the carpark remains open with nearby parking available on Main St, Kotahi Lane and the grass verge on Talisman Drive.
The current library and service centre at 36 Main St was closed yesterday for the transition between the two buildings to take place. The Centre — Pa¯ tuki Manawa at 21 Main St will open at 8am on Wednesday, August 22 following the official opening.
