Katikati Advertiser

Wrong info

-

It is with dismay that I read in the Advertiser of August 9 an advertisement by the Western Ward Residents and Ratepayers Association that includes inaccuracies.

Point 3 states that “a councilappointed committee pushed for the new library”. This is false information. The communityelected community board instigated the development of a new library over 14 years ago after an open invitation was made to all members of our community to participate in creating a 20 year vision for our town. The plan, including a new library, was supported by the majority of the community through public consultation and the Katikati Town Centre Plan 2010 documents the decisions.

In the same point 3 is “the majority of the community did not want a new library”. As stated this is false and without any justification or reference.

As for the ratepayers association, I am disappointed at the continual inaccuracies the association makes in articles and newsletters, it undermines the credibility of the group.

So come on Western Ward Residents and Ratepayers Association — get the information correct and stop using attention-grabbing statements that cannot be justified.
