College LGBT group starts up

Katikati College have an awesome support group for LGBT+ and/or questionin­g youth which I’m pleased to be a part of.

This Diversity Group is still in its early stages since rebooting but that means there is heaps of room for growth.

I’m excited to see what a difference this could make for a young person throughout their high school years.

In addition to this, there is also a fortnightl­y support group for LGBT+ youth outside of school called Rainbow Connection­s. Check out the details below.

I’ve recently become a driver navigator for Blue Light’s Youth Driver Navigation Programme.

This means that I’ll accompany a young person for some driving lessons roughly once a week.

As a navigator, you support the young person to get the practical experience they need to eventually sit their restricted licence.

The more volunteer navigators we can get on board, the more youth we can support through this great programme.

Girl’s Night Fitness/boxing: Friday, August 24 from 5.30pm-7.30pm at the Katikati College Meads Gym. Ages 11-18. Free.

Rainbow Connection­s: A support group for LGBT+ or questionin­g youth. Held at 18 Rereatukah­ia Pa Rd every fortnight.
