Veterans tournament played

Players came from Paeroa, Auckland Region, Castleclif­fe, Lakeview, Feilding and Waihi to play in the Veterans’ two-day tournament on November 1-2.

The weather was bad on the first day, with strong cold winds and heavy squally showers with hail making conditions very uncomforta­ble. The second day was sunny with strong cold southweste­rlies, but at least it was dry.

The tournament was well sponsored by businesses in Waihi Beach — Waihi Beach Chemist, Waihi Beach Hotel, Ship Shape Boutique, Ava Boutique, Michelle’s Beauty Room, Flat White Cafe´ ; in Waihi — Mitre 10, Beds R Us, 100% Appliances, New World; in Katikati — The Craft Shed and Talisman Hotel, enabling the committee to provide great prize table.

Competitio­n over the two days in men’s and women’s divisions was aggregate nett winner and runners-up, stableford winner and runners-up, with a daily prize for best stableford.
