Grab a bargain at garage sale
St Peter’s Anglican Church in Katikati has a major fundraising event each year in November to assist with a shortfall in parish funds. This year it is a monster garage sale being held this Saturday at 9am on the church premises at the corner of Beach Rd and Carisbrooke St.
During the year house lots of furniture, household items, tools, gardening equipment, and other items have been donated and now they must be sold.
Reverend Brendan Gibbs said the church premises are used by many church and community groups during the year so there is always substantial maintenance that needs to be done both inside and outside of all the buildings.
“Over the years the historic church, built 1884, has been upgraded with the help of community fundraising activities such as this one.
“It is important that these improvements are maintained for future generations of church attendees and for community users.”
St Peter’s Church has been an active member of the Katikati community for many years with a variety of community assistance activities.
One example is it helps run the Seasons for Grief children’s programme run in various schools in the Waihi and Katikati area. While the programme may not be well known in the wider community, within the schools it plays an important role in helping children work through the varying kinds of grief in their lives. A contribution from funds raised from the monster garage sale will be made towards this programme.
Even if you don’t normally come to church you won’t want to miss coming to St Peter’s Monster Garage Sale 9am this Saturday on the church premises. There will be loads of items plus a cake stall and raffle — so come and grab a bargain.
