Talented international and local musicians will be performing at a new outdoor concert at Tahawai, north of Katikati on Saturday.

The family day out concert is presented by the LMM (Local Musicians Music) Network Summer Concert Series for 2018. Artists performing include Lace, Ivita and Simone, My Pennyworth, Lance Roberts, Katharticus, Tony Lee, Jane Izzet and more, including local guests Bede Bailey and Bree Rose.

Established in 2014 by Shirley Howe, music name LA Thompson, LMM supports emerging musicians to get established in the music scene. It has grown from a Coromandelfocused compilation CD to producing four high-quality compilation CDs, with volume 4 playing on Spotify, iTunes and all major music distributors and a fifth on its way.

Howe moved to Martray Road at Tahawai a few months ago where the outdoor concert will be staged. She hopes to support the community whenever possible and expand her mentoring and marketing business to continue to sponsor the LMM Network.

She has enjoyed a colourful life as a musician and promoter of Indie artists throughout New Zealand through the LMM Network and Local Musicians Music.

She has an extensive career in the music industry, having performed and written her own music from the age of nine.

“I lead by example songwriting, producing compilation albums and mentoring artists, connecting them to live show opportunities, music producers and costeffective solutions to help them achieve their goals,” she said.

She has assisted two songwriters to get signed to publishers, with numerous radio and internet TV interviews to help raise their profiles, and lots of live shows over the past five years in Wellington, Auckland, Tauranga, Thames, Whitianga, Waihi, Hahei, Coromandel and now Tahawai.

“LA has my vote,” one fan said. “She is a top supporter of fellow artists and goes out of her way to put them on the map. Writing good songs too.”

The concert will be filmed throughout the day for promotional music videos.

Howe continues to arrange events for other organisations and is providing the sound engineer for Katch Katikati’s Christmas Variety Concert at Moore Park on December 1, and will perform alongside talented local singer Bree Rose.

LMM events are booked once a month, sometimes once a week. To find out more about concert dates visit www.localmusi or eventfinder and on Facebook.
