Office ready for annual appeal
Christmas is just over four weeks away and the Katikati Advertiser Christmas tree went up on Monday signalling the start of the annual community gift appeal, run in conjunction with the Katikati Christian Helpline.
Every year community generosity excels with hundreds of gifts provided for children, teenagers and adults donated by locals, which are then distributed to help make Christmas brighter for everyone.
The response to last year’s appeal was brilliant with about 50 hampers delivered to families in our community.
People are invited to donate new gifts or second-hand items to the appeal at the Katikati Advertiser office unwrapped — those that are gift-wrapped should be labelled with details of age and sex of the recipient. Non-perishable Christmas food such as tinned food, chocolates, Christmas mince pies, are also appreciated.
The gifts will be delivered to people using Christian Helpline information, and organisers welcome names of deserving recipients. Details can be left by phoning Christian Helpline, 549-1038.
Items can be dropped off at the office on Mondays and Tuesdays from 9am3.30pm and Thursdays from 9am-1pm. The community gift appeal ends on Monday, December 10.
