Shoppers snap up bargains

-

The St Peter’s Anglican Church held a successful monster garage sale at the church premises at Beach Rd on Saturday raising over $4000.

There were plenty of interested bargain hunters with people queued outside so the doors opened slightly earlier than the 9am opening time. The church hall was filled with goods from couches and gardening equipment to books, clothing and even an exercycle — from houselots of donated items.

Reverend Brendan Gibbs said the garage sale was so good all round. Over the years funds raised from the church’s annual fair and with help from the community have assisted with maintenance on the historic church. Built in 1884 the historic church has been upgraded with the help of fundraising activities such as the garage sale. With the church premises being used by many church and community groups during the year, he said there is always substantial maintenance needing to be done, both inside and out.
