Upcycle your tree for Christmas competition

-

The Katikati Advertiser is getting behind Katch Katikati’s upcycle-themed Christmas tree competition with our own rustic-themed masterpiece, which is a work in progress.

There are five entries so far in the competition but be quick — trees must be in place by Saturday in time for the Christmas Parade.

Katch Katikati event coordinator Nicky Austin said they want to engage locals and visitors with a Katikati twist on the Christmas spirit.

“With lots of colour and twinkling lights the concept should bring life and interest to the street and engage visitors and surrounding businesses.”

All entries will be judged by a panel made up of members of Katikati Open-Air Art, Council officers and community members. They will assess the submitted designs and select the best match against the specified requirements. The trees must be no more than 3m high and be designed to be outside for four weeks and withstand all types of weather. Entrants can use lights for their trees, which must be selfpowered and also make an impact during daylight hours.

To register a tree, contact Nicky Austin on 549-5250.
