Small field for har­bour sail

Only four yachts took up the chal­lenge for a long har­bour O¯ moko­roa Boat Club sail­ing event held last Sun­day.

Yachts in the keeler di­vi­sion were Lit­tle Gem and In­vin­ci­ble car­ry­ing all the young male Millers, plus Alex Annan on Lit­tle Gem, while Richard Miller took In­vin­ci­ble. Trailer yachts were rep­re­sented by Rozie with a strong crew of four and Pic­caninny with Alan Mau­ritzio and John Budden.

The course for the long har­bour was set from D off the O¯ moko­roa Point to west 12 down har­bour then back around Mo­tuhoa Is­land to F off Matakana enroute to Katikati and back to fin­ish at D. The breeze was north­west to north and 10 to 15 knots with cloudy skies, with rain fore­cast for later.

Rozie was first with In­vin­ci­ble sec­ond with only 17 sec­onds be­tween them. Mean­while Pic­caninny and Lit­tle Gem had to flog on to F and back to G. The lit­tle Tas­man made it in third spot and Lit­tle Gem fourth.
