Small field for harbour sail

Only four yachts took up the challenge for a long harbour O¯ mokoroa Boat Club sailing event held last Sunday.

Yachts in the keeler division were Little Gem and Invincible carrying all the young male Millers, plus Alex Annan on Little Gem, while Richard Miller took Invincible. Trailer yachts were represente­d by Rozie with a strong crew of four and Piccaninny with Alan Mauritzio and John Budden.

The course for the long harbour was set from D off the O¯ mokoroa Point to west 12 down harbour then back around Motuhoa Island to F off Matakana enroute to Katikati and back to finish at D. The breeze was northwest to north and 10 to 15 knots with cloudy skies, with rain forecast for later.

Rozie was first with Invincible second with only 17 seconds between them. Meanwhile Piccaninny and Little Gem had to flog on to F and back to G. The little Tasman made it in third spot and Little Gem fourth.
