Open streets

-

Concerning the “no” once again on the bypass, let’s have an Open Streets, just like Auckland with their Queen St.

Don’t ask the NZTA, they will only say after many meetings “not for Katikati”, so let’s just do it any way. It will take them a few months to figure out what’s going on, so I think we should just do it. They think that Katikati people are too nice and will accept whatever they say, with a big “Yes sir!”

So, let’s be more like the French protesters, and start showing some venom. From Beach Rd to Marshall Rd every Friday night, till the NZTA wake up and get angry, when they will find we are too. PHIL CHRISTOPHERSEN

Katikati giving away basic rights of employees. We probably all know someone who is slogging away being underpaid for what they do, or missing out on their legal rights around holiday pay or other entitlements. I myself see it all the time. Stop with the scaremongering of “the bad old days”, because for a lot of workers those bad days are happening right now.

I’m as disappointed as anyone about the decisions around our highway and our bypass, but please minister don’t try and turn this bad news into personal or party gain. MARK ANDERSON
