Good line-up for concerts

Get ready to rock the Haiku in

2019 with music to suit all tastes at Katikati’s fun twilight concerts this summer.

The line-up of acts is impressive, the stage is set and the Haiku reserve is looking great to picnic and dance into the twilight.

Twilight Concert committee chairwoman Jenni Wilson said everything is on track for a good Twilight Concert season.

“We’re looking forward to a great line-up of artists and we have some fantastic support acts as well.”

Opening the first concert for the season on January 5 are the Hipstamati­cs, bringing a party with a difference. The dynamic

10-piece band from Auckland takes iconic well known tunes reinterpre­ting them into authentic vintage soul/funk style. Elements of music icons, Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, Aretha Franklin and James Brown are evident in their sound. Comprising three lead vocals and a horn section, this 10 piece band will surely get a party started.

On January 26 is the Superstar Show which has been performing around New Zealand for the past decade. Paul Madsen and his band are renowned for their ability to mimic numerous artists such as Barry Gibb, Neil Diamond, Freddie Mercury and many more.

Winding up the summer series of concerts on February 9, be prepared for Miho’s Jazz Orchestra and Bay band, Brilleaux in a show of two halves. This is one not to be missed, so get your season tickets now.

The Twilight Concert tertiary scholarshi­p applicatio­ns have closed and the calibre of applicants is impressive. Presentati­ons will be made at the first concert on January 5.
