Dairy robbed

Three men and a woman — one armed with a hammer — robbed the Park Road Dairy on Sunday taking cash, cigarettes and other goods. The group then ran off into the Katikati College grounds.

The sole woman worker at the dairy was left shaken by the aggravated robbery.

Police are wanting to hear from anyone who saw any suspicious behaviour around the dairy at that time. Katikati Police Sergeant Steve Hindmarsh said they were following a positive line of inquiry.

Both Western Bay of Plenty CIB and Katikati Police were investigat­ing this incident.

Man injured

An accident between a utility vehicle and a mobility scooter on a pedestrian crossing outside Katikati College on Sunday morning left an elderly man seriously injured.

The incident happened shortly before 10am. The 79-year-old man on the mobility scooter suffered serious injuries and was transporte­d to Tauranga Hospital. The driver of the utility stopped at the scene and has been spoken to by police. The Serious Crash Unit from Tauranga also attended. At this stage inquiries are still being conducted.

Londy break-in

The Katikati Kindergart­en on Fairview Rd was broken into over the past weekend. A tool shed was entered and a number of tools taken.

Radio handed in

A portable hand held radio has been handed into the Katikati police. It was found on the road on the corner of

SH2 and Hot Springs Rd and

SH2 on Monday.
