Katikati Bowling Club hosted the Four Square Ladies Christmas Fayre Open Triples on December 13. Veterans - On December 13 the Fairview 9-hole vets teed off at 8am to play a nett competitio­n on the front 9 holes. Nineteen players participat­ed, teeing off in excellent weather conditions, temperatur­e of 19 degrees and little dew, made for a good round of golf with very good scores.

Winners on the day were first equal Neil Cruden, Keith Hands and Barry Winning, who all returned a nett score of 31 points. Second was Bruce Warden with 32 nett points, followed by John Barrett, Trevor Gilbert and Peter Wilson, all had a nett score of 33 points. A lot of happy golfers.

18-Hole — The second leg of the 18 hole ladies Summer Cup was played under extremely hot conditions. It was either thunder and heavy downpours, or the opposite. Results: Alison Kennard 41 points, Joan Irwin 40, Cathy Munroe 39, Sandra Wheeler 38, Betty Silson, Jan Nicoll 33, Annette Perkins 30, Georgie Sorokin 30, Margaret Deane Freemam 29, Patricia Hollis 29.

Xmas golf tournament - Members turned out in force on Sunday December 16, with high hopes of a score good enough to win a ham — top prize in each of the three divisions. The weather was hot and humid, tempered by a slight breeze, and glowering clouds over the surroundin­g hills that could have dropped a deluge or two, stayed put. The course was groomed to perfection for the tournament, and players visiting the course over the holiday period will not be disappoint­ed, thanks to the hard work and dedication of the greens staff. The competitio­n was stableford in three divisions — Division 1 Men (0-21), Division 2 men (22-36), and women.

Results — Division 1 Men: winner Mike Matutinovi­ch 46 points.
