POLICE REPORT
Burglaries
■ Overnight on May 5-6, damp laundry was stolen from a laundry room of a Mural Drive address.
■ On the morning of May 9, an Ongare Point Road resident reported finding wet footprints on their decking and around the outside of the address. It is suspected that someone was trying to find an insecure window or door.
Look out for your neighbours. If you see something, say something.
Theft
■ Petrol drive-off on May 8. An orange XR6 Ford Falcon. Enquiries are continuing. Remember, lock it or lose it.
Found
■ A child’s bicycle and two watches have been found.
Arrests and apprehensions
■ On May 10 about 6.25pm, police attended a single vehicle crash on Kauri Point
Road. The 43-year-old female driver from Athenree has been summoned to appear in the Tauranga District Court on charges of driving with excess breath alcohol and careless use of a motor vehicle.
■ At about 11.30pm on May 11 a 30-year-old Katikati man was stopped driving a vehicle on Main Road. His vehicle was impounded as he was a disqualified driver. He has been summoned to appear in the Tauranga District Court for driving while disqualified. It is the second time in 10 days that he has had a vehicle impounded for disqualified driving.
■ On the afternoon of May 8, a vehicle was stopped for driving at excessive speed on SH 2 south of Katikati. The 54-year-old Katikati man has been summoned to appear court on May 18.
■ A 26-year-old Hamilton man was arrested for breaching a protection order after an incident at a Katikati address on May 6. He appeared in court the following day and has been remanded to next appear on May 21.
■ Last Saturday night a traffic patrol unit clocked a vehicle travelling at 130km/h about 2km north of town. The traffic unit turned around to stop the vehicle and found it a short time later crashed into a fence on Waterford Road. Three people ran from the vehicle and two were found in the Uretara Domain a short time later. We are still trying to establish the identity of the driver.
General
■ A 57-year-old man staying locally has died after a single vehicle crash on SH 2 near Lund Road on May 9. He died in Tauranga Hospital on May
11. It is suspected that a medical event may have contributed to the crash.
■ The police station public counter will re-open this Thursday in a limited capacity. Only one person at a time will be allowed in the foyer unless from the same household. Alternatively if you need to get hold of us, ring the station and your call will be answered by a call taker who will give advice or direct your call appropriately.
