More events planned to boost Waihi Beach
This summer was another bumper season with many visitors and locals enjoying a wonderful long holiday at Waihi Beach.
With the Kids Day Out being the last event for the summer season at Waihi Beach Community Events and Promotions (Waihi Beach Info), we have been busy planning our year, say event co-ordinators, Nicky Austin and Cindy Clare.
“We’re looking at a few new events and projects which we will reveal in due course.”
For those new to Waihi Beach, their purpose is to “boost the economic prosperity and enhance the community well-being of Waihi Beach”.
“We achieve this by implementing events and marketing campaigns to attract visitors, communicating all that is happening at Waihi Beach, and through supporting local businesses and building relationships in the area.”

The ECHO Walking Festival is their first event for the 2021-22 season and it’s been a great success, apart from a few weather postponements.
“Many of our walks have been booked out and all have been fantastic experiences, appreciating our local natural beauty.
“We’re grateful for the support of LJ Hooker Waihi Beach and Maurice Trapp Insurance for helping us bring
you this event.”
Coming up, the team is hosting a Digital Marketing Workshop to help everyone upskill in the areas of website optimisation, social media, SEO and Google Ads. This will be held on May 25 (full day) at Waihi Beach Surf Lifesaving Club and is open to all businesses. For information or to register, email cindy@waihibeach info.co.nz. The cost is $80pp. Also coming up is a Waihi Beach Clean Up event on Sunday, June 6.
Meet in front of the Waihi Beach Surf Lifesaving Club to select or be given an area to head off to. Nicky says they will sort the rubbish and take it up to the Athenree Recycling Centre.
“We are excited for a successful year ahead, working with local businesses to introduce new events and activities for locals and visitors alike.”
