Club night fun for bowls

Katikati Indoor Bowls Club night (April 21) saw Neal Mikkleson’s team of Phil Green, Jan Hickey and Neville Henderson emerge winners of the night with three wins of fours bowls. Runners-up were Peter Billinghurst’s team of Andrew McLean and Roger Lowe with two wins.

The April 28 bowls night saw the champion series begin with 16 players contesting the singles. The overall winner will represent Katikati against other clubs in Tauranga on May 23 in a main event, the runner- up in a plate event on the same date. A two-life system was played with a timed series of 12 end games. At the end of the night one two-life player remained, along with four one-life players. This will be concluded next week.

Those members not playing in the programmed event played a series of games in a club night format, with players knocked out of the singles joining as the night
