Dynamites blast Otumoetai rivals 5-0

-

The Katikati Football Club’s 9th grade Dynamites travelled to Otumoetai to play Victory. In the third minute Bodhi May put a lovely ball through to Monty Groenewald who hit a good shot into the goal, giving the goalkeeper no chance.

Two minutes later Monty got his second goal, after receiving a cross from the right of the field, scoring in the goal’s bottom right-hand corner.

The Victory team threatened a couple of times but Kobe Hammonds denied them any goals by dominating the goal area.

Jackson Stevens, who was having a strong game, sent a great ball through to Monty who struck it well but was denied by the post.

The opposition’s goalkeeper injured himself and was replaced by an outfield player who then dominated the goal area.

Blake Cousins hit a low, powerful shot which hit the post and spun across the goal line then was cleared by the Victory. The Katikati backs were also unlucky not to score from taking long-range shots from Victory’s clearances. The half-time score was 2-nil to the Dynamites.

In the second half the Dynamites dominated the play with shots galore, but their goalkeeper was having a

great game stopping anything that was on target.

It took until the 37th minute for Blake to get on the score sheet, following up from a shot that hit the post, to get his first goal of the day.

Then in the 43rd minute Paige McLennan, who was winning a lot of ball in the midfield, sent a great ball through to Blake who took it around

the goalkeeper who was diving at his feet, to place the ball into an open net.

Alex Scott, who was having a blinder winning so much ball throughout the game, got on to a loose ball and played a short pass to Blake, who hit a powerful shot past the goalkeeper to score his secondhalf hat-trick on the 50th minute.

Another outstanding team performance by all the players.

Final score 5-0 to Dynamites. Goalscorers — Blake Cousins, 3, and Monty Groenewald, 2.
