Thieves in the dog box and Big Avocado smash and grab
September 29: The Big Avocado store in Katikati was broken into and various food items were taken.
October 3: At 2am, the Boohai Sports Tavern was broken into and property taken.
A dog box was stolen from a ute parked on Wedgewood St. The two offenders were seen to place the dog box on the roof of a white sedan.
They were last seen driving on to
Marshall Rd. If anybody knows who these two are please give us a call. Remember, lock it or lose it. Found property
A small silver necklace was located on Main Rd Katikati and handed to police.
Wilful damage
Tagging reported on Park Rd, Katikati.
Apprehensions
October 3: A 35-year-old Tahawai man arrested for breaching his bail conditions.
September 28: A 47-year-old Katikati man was arrested three times on the same day for disorderly behaviour and trespassing at a Katikati medical facility. He has been remanded in custody to appear in the Tauranga District Court on October 17.
September 27: A 43-year-old Te Puna man was charged with being unlawfully in an enclosed yard after being disturbed on an Old Highway residential property the previous day.
September 27: An 18-year-old Whakamarama man was charged with two counts of trespass at a Whakamarama service station.
Alleged scam
A scam was reported involving a popular Katikati Facebook trading site. A tiny home was allegedly purchased but never delivered. Remember, scammers will advertise items well below their value in order for the buyer to think it’s a bargain. After paying the deposit the buyer does not see the item and usually all contact is terminated by the seller.
Rescue
Police assisted with a water rescue involving a dinghy and two males in the Tauranga Harbour. The Coastguard were deployed and towed the boat back to a boat ramp.
Crash
Police attended a single vehicle accident on State Highway 2, and the driver taken to hospital for minor injuries.
