O¯ mokoroa art group holds exhibition
Includes art demonstrations and kids’ activities
At¯ Labour weekend Omokoroa Artists will be exhibiting work at the Settlers Hall. The annual event gets bigger and better every year and a growing membership means there will be a big variety of work, in scale, subject matter, ¯media and price.
Omokoroa Artists meet every Wednesday in the Settlers Hall to share ideas and expertise and have been an important part of the social fabric of O¯ mokoroa for many years.
Members run workshops for anyone who wants to have a go. Visiting tutors give members the chance to learn new skills and techniques.
There is no one way to paint and draw, it depends on the artist’s intention — the challenge is to find the best way to do this. Like any creative endeavour it is 90 per cent perspiration and 1 per cent inspiration.
Use it or lose it is the advice we are given as we grow older and creative thinking and practice keeps the mind active and engaged. For me, my artwork kept me company after my husband died.
The exhibition is not a competition to see who is the best artist, it is a chance for members to share their work with the wider public. For some
it might be the first time they have exhibited their work.
Having the exhibition at Labour weekend is an incentive to get work completed and no longer put off starting something you had been intending to begin for some time.
The exhibition is on October 21-23
from 10am-4pm. Eftpos is available.
In the small hall there will be artists’ demonstrations, outdoor art and activities for children while parents look at the work in the large hall.
Come along and support the local art group and maybe find something that you simply must buy.
