Vinegar Soap Method

The soap in this version helps the moss absorb the vinegar.

-

INGREDIENTS

• 2 litres vinegar

• ½ cup salt

• 2 tbsp liquid soap

METHOD

1. Mix ingredients together.

2. Pour directly onto moss or use a spray bottle to apply.

3. Leave to soak for 10 minutes.

4. Scrape away the moss, or scrub using a broom or hard brush – use water to help, if required.

5. Repeat if necessary.

6. Wash down with water.

TIPS

• Vinegar can kill plants. Be careful not to get it on any favoured greenery.

• Vinegar is acidic, so test it out on precious tiles or concrete before using in large quantities.

• Wear gloves and long-sleeved clothing when applying.

• It is best to tackle moss plants when they’re young and not well-established.

• treating moss with vinegar may require more than one application. If you don’t manage to kill all the moss the first time, try again with a second application. If it still persists, you may be better to use a different herbicide.
