IS A FOOD FOREST FOR YOU?
• A food forest takes time and effort to establish, but it will eventually supply you with food and firewood for years to come – and often at a time when you may no longer have the strength or energy to attend to a regular garden.
• Even if cost is an issue, you can still plant a food forest using gifted plants. You can make the forest as large or as small as you can afford. • If you don’t have space for canopy trees, skip a layer in your food forest, and use small trees as your upper storey.
• A food forest is a useful way to eventually take care of what would otherwise be wasteland. • In areas with extreme climates or environments, a food forest can eventually provide the necessary requirements to grow plants that might not otherwise survive there.
