RATS AND BATS

-

I read with interest your article on rubber rats in fruit trees to deter the birds from eating the fruit and thought I would give it a go.

I was only able to find small rubber rats at our local emporium but right beside the rats were rubber bats on an elastic loop cord. So, along with the three rats, I bought three bats (only $2.40 each). I promptly hung them in the tree. Wow, it works. No birds beating us to our delicious ‘Luisa’ plums this year. I bought more bats and hung them in the nectarine trees with the same success. The elastic cord on the bats lets them move gently about when the wind blows. I will be moving the rats and bats to the grape vines in due course in the hope that they work just as well there.

Great magazine – love the ideas.
