3 new ways to GROW lettuce

-

1. Inside

Yes, it’s a thing. Frilly red lettuces especially are happy to grow indoors. Plant them in a container, near a bright window. Pick leaf by leaf to harvest. Rotate the pot every now and again to allow all sides of the plant to get an even amount of light. Be careful not to water them too much.

2. Microgreens

If patience isn’t your thing and you want your lettuce hit as little leaves, try growing lettuce seedlings as microgreens. They germinate quickly and have a mild lettuce flavour. However, the little leaves do not store that well, so pick as close to using as possible.

3. Hydroponically

If you haven’t tried growing anything hydroponically yet, lettuces are a tremendous crop to start with. Begin with decent-sized seedlings grown in a pumice of vermiculite mixture. Hydroponic systems are widely available now and are a great way of growing produce indoors or where climatic issues have an impact.
