The capsule wardrobe is on the rise. Sophie Preen shares an insight into what we need when it comes to wardrobe staples.

Essentially a capsule wardrobe is having a small number of items that achieve many different outfits by mixing and matching, ultimately getting the most out of what you have in your wardrobe – and don’t we all love doing this! Basics definitely need to be a part of this as they create a great base to any outfit.

Fit, versatility, and comfort are key when it comes to wardrobe staples. They are items you reach for often – your wardrobe essentials. Something you can’t do without that makes your life easier when it comes to styling. It will often be your core starting layer when putting together an outfit.

Wardrobe basics are items you wear a lot so they need to last. It is well worth investing in your core basics as they will outlast other garments by many seasons. However, investing in clothes isn’t always feasible, so you could consider buying a more affordable option, getting two and rotating them.

If you start with the basics and get these right, styling will become a lot easier for you! Add colour and effort into your accessories and wow pieces. You’ll be an expert in no time.
