The Dame Malv­ina Ma­jor Foun­da­tion (DMMF) Christchur­ch com­mit­tee and Ash­bur­ton Youth In­sti­tute present a con­cert at The Ash­bur­ton

Event Cen­tre on Satur­day 24 Au­gust at 7.30 pm, show­cas­ing artists

From Grass­roots to Ex­cel­lence. Fol­low­ing on from the pre­vi­ous highly suc­cess­ful col­lab­o­ra­tion in July 2013, the first half of the con­cert will fea­ture lo­cal youth and the sec­ond half Canterbury DMMF artists pur­su­ing ca­reers in the per­for­mance arts.

So­prano Anna Hoet­jes (nee Ar­gyle), born in Ash­bur­ton, will be joined by tenor An­drew Grenon, res­i­dent artist with New Zealand Opera, ac­com­pa­nied by Cheuky Chan who is home briefly from the Lyric

Opera Stu­dio Weimar. Flautist Is­abella Gre­gory, vi­o­lin­ist Justin Hodges, ac­com­pa­nied by Anna Maksy­mova and pupils from South­ern Bal­let will also fea­ture. Filmed footage will be shown of Tas­man Davids danc­ing at the Mari­in­sky The­atre, St Peters­burg, Rus­sia fol­low­ing his re­cent suc­cess in be­ing nom­i­nated for a Golden Mask Award.
