Living better
We all aspire to live a healthier and happier lifestyle. And for local developers Shane Kennedy and Jason Whitelaw, their latest project, Verdeco Park, is paving a pathway for us to achieve this.
Found on the doorstep of Lincoln, Verdeco Park’s name comes from the Spanish (and Italian) word verde, which means green, and includes the word eco, instantly providing an image of the vision for this state-of-the-art subdivision.
Regarded as one of Canterbury’s most highly sought-after townships, Lincoln is an easy commute to Christchurch (22 kilometres) providing residents with the best of both worlds. All the benefits and community aspects of a small country town, with urban amenities only a short distance away.
Offering home builders the largest sections in Lincoln, it is the vision of the developers that is setting this subdivision apart. Having proven themselves with Lincoln subdivision Flemington, local developers Shane Kennedy and Jason Whitelaw see Verdeco Park as providing a ‘framework that empowers residents to achieve a fuller, richer and healthier lifestyle’.
With over three hectares of recreational reserve, green spaces have been thoughtfully designed with the natural landscape in mind. ‘We want to create a diverse and vibrant neighbourhood,’ explains Jason. Partnering with Christchurch landscape architect Danny Kamo, the native trees and planting throughout have been selected with care to achieve a beautiful setting in which residents are able to sit back, relax and enjoy.
The addition of a communal orchard and garden areas provides a unique sense of community and ownership. ‘It magnifies our vision, which is to enhance the connection between nature, happiness and healthy living,’ describes Shane.
The multi-staged development is being released in six stages and boasts 225 generously sized sections across 65 hectares of land. With sections ranging from 640 square metres to 6000 square metres, there is plenty of scope for everyone. ‘Shaped
from an ambition to create a more spacious, healthy and sustainable living environment for Cantabrians, the sections are tucked away from the hustle and bustle, but only a minute’s drive, or a short walk from the supermarket and Lincoln town centre,’ explains Shane. ‘This is a subdivision I will live in, and with homeowners able to build their dream home to their own personal specifications, it is a subdivision that will suit a variety of lifestyle and family needs.’
Setting the scene for a more sustainable lifestyle, the subdivision boasts over three kilometres of open walkways and cycleways for residents to explore, an electric car station and solar reserve lighting. ‘Wherever possible we are embracing eco-design innovations and features,’ shares Jason. ‘Verdeco
Park is about providing a space in which Cantabrians can build a better lifestyle and a healthier future.’
We have all been found guilty of thinking the grass is greener on the other side, but perhaps this doesn’t have to be the case. As Jason and Shane say, ‘This is living where the grass is greener.’
