Maruia Hot Springs in focus

-

Maruia Hot Springs is located in the iconic Lewis Pass National Reserve, a two-hour drive from Christchurch and one hour’s drive from Hanmer Springs. Various packages are available for day visits, overnight escapes and multi day retreats, with luxury accommodation on offer or the facilities to camp or park your caravan and use the hot pool and sauna spaces. For the past four years, since late 2015, passionate owners James White and partner Kim Hamilton have given the Springs a new life whilst maintaining the core of what it was once before – a historical natural thermal mineral spring offering a place of relaxation, rejuvenation and healing. In New Zealand’s indigenous language Māori, “Maruia” appropriately translates to shelter, haven or comfort place.

The Maruia Hot Springs premier experience is a sixday, five-night retreat, led by co-owner Professor Marc Cohen, medical doctor and researcher, which includes opportunities to practise forest bathing, sauna bathing, adventure bathing and bathing in the natural geothermal rock pools while enjoying the stunning river and mountain views. The retreat will expand your experience of comfort, relaxation and joy and explore the edge of your comfort zone; access the deep inner-well of your being and hack into your biological operating system though focused breathing, activity and relaxation sessions. Discover lifestyle tweaks to overcome pain, inflammation and procrastination. Practise mastery over your mind and body, and gain confidence that you can perform feats you thought impossible. Ultimately, transform your world through bathing and simple lifestyle practices that build resilience, self-confidence and foster extr eme wellness.
