The best gift I was given when pregnant with my first child was Sharlene Poole’s Baby Whispering. It offered practical, useful advice, supported by routine ideas, techniques for swaddling, burping and introducing solids. It was never far away, and while it was put away for a while, the arrival of baby number two saw it brought back out. Its biggest downside was that it only covered the first year of baby’s life. I was on my own from there – until now.

Toddler Whispering is the highly anticipated companion to Baby Whispering and is guaranteed to become just as successful. Divided into two age groups: 1–2½ and 2½–5, like its predecessor it covers routine, sleeping and eating as well as the big challenges of toilet training, sibling adjustment and behaviour management.

A practical, easy-to-read ‘manual’.
