Beautiful products to help you create a beautiful bedroom

Autumn is no doubt my favourite season. I love the weather and the fashion, but most of all transforming an interior space.

It is a season to layer patterns, textures and the richest of colours. It is such a cliché but autumnal hues such as warm rusts, earthy greens and bold mustards set the tone to enjoy the pre-winter season.

Many of us neglect our bedroom but I personally believe you deserve a boudoir to relax in after a hard day, a place to unwind on a brisk evening. Great bedding and cushions go a long way to create a retreat in your own home. I was thrilled to see the autumn/ winter bedding catalogues! A celebration for the senses with bold moody floral duvets in the softest cotton sateen which pair beautifully with their range of luxe velvet bedspreads in gorgeous shades like port, pesto and gold.

Don’t be afraid to add layers to your bed. Many people stop at the duvet or bedspread, but adding a comforter does wonders for creating a lavish ‘puff ’ at the end of the bed. Alternatively try an oversized duvet folded down the bed in thirds. This creates the same effect and when you go to bed you can just pull it up for extra warmth. As a rule of thumb I always go up one size to your bed, then the duvet will always look generous and you never get that peeping mattress I abhor so much.

This autumn we were introduced to exciting new cushions that are embellished with tassels, embroidery and pompom trim that work beautifully to achieve a fall look to the home. Velvet cushions in the most deep jewel tones are a great way to start; remember to stagger different sizes, shapes and fabrics to keep the look interesting. Even though your significant other may not appreciate a cushion’s value, adding them as a styling piece really does complete the look and add balance to the scheme.

Taryn Beech from Maree Hynes Interiors inspires us to join her in her

love for autumn and see it as an opportunity to add exciting changes

to your home and create your very own bedroom sanctuary.
