The Deep End: Diary of a Wimpy Kid (15)

Jeff Kinney

Puffin

The book is really interesting to read and there are heaps of adventures on the way. The story is about a family who go on holiday and never have good luck. The story is based on a young boy named Greg. He has an older brother named Rodrick, a younger brother named Manny and a mum and dad.

Together they have to survive the holiday park and face many challenges. This is an easy and fun book to read. I recommend it for people aged 7–12. Equally this book could be read to kids of all ages.

After 11-year-old Eric’s grandma dies in a bombing tragedy Eric runs away to live with his Great Uncle Sid, an elderly zookeeper. What he doesn’t know is that Sid is hiding a huge secret that nobody knows.

They find themselves on a mission to save Gertrude, one of the oldest gorillas at London Zoo from certain death. They encounter logistical challenges, evil zoo staff and largerthan-life characters which help to keep the story a real nail-biter.

This book is definitely a ‘whizz-bang epic adventure’ that would suit readers who enjoy adventurous, hilarious and intriguing David Walliams novels.

When the Wind Blew

Jacqui Maguire

This is the story of Órla, who enjoys her daily routine and happy carefree childhood, until one day the wind blows in and turns her world ‘upside down and inside out’. From there the story explores the emotions this sudden change causes for Órla and the superpowers she harnesses to help her overcome them.

Author Jacqui Maguire is a highly acclaimed clinical psychologist and mum, ensuring this is a beautiful, yet practical tool for those little people in our lives needing some help navigating change. We all adored it! Lucinda Diack, Mum to Miss Three and Miss Five
