Again, Rachel

- LD

Marian Keyes

Michael Joseph

Marian Keyes was one of the first authors I binge-read and so I was delighted to discover one of her mostloved characters was back.

Centred around Rachel Walsh (and her very funny and loveable family), the novel slowly reveals what has been happening since we last encountered Rachel in the ’90s in Rachel ’s Holiday, where we followed her journey through rehab for drugs. Fast-forward to the late naughties and there has been heartbreak, loss and personal growth. In fact life is calm and Rachel is happy. She has love, a great job and a passion for gardens. But the sudden re-arrival of an old love interest sends her wobbling off kilter and she is forced to rethink her own perception of the past.

While this has all the quirk that we have come to expect from Marian Keyes, it felt like a more mature Keyes and I loved it. In fact I didn’t want the book to end. An easy novel that will have you laughing and crying along with the chaos that is the Walsh family.
