A Century of Service
The Rotary Club of Christchurch recently celebrated 100 years of community service at the Canterbury Club in Christchurch. Her Excellency the Right Honourable Dame Cindy Kiro GNZM QSO addressed the club via video message and the Hon Lianne Dalziel,
Mayor of Christchurch was in attendance as their guest. Oscar Alpers, the grandson of inaugural Vice President Mr Oscar T Alpers who held office in 1922 also attended and highlighted the history of
this club. A huge achievement well worth celebrating!
Rotary is a voluntary non-profit organisation of business and professional leaders who meet regularly to perform charitable works. The main objective is service in the community and to promote goodwill and peace around the world. Rotarians have also developed support programmes for youth, education and
international exchanges for students.
