Hawaiian Airlines passengers can now choose to add a touch of luxury to their journey with the introduction of Extra Comfort premium economy seats, available on North American and international routes operated by its A330 fleet.

The new class of seats offers travellers more legroom and a bundle of other amenities at a nominal cost to make the Hawai‘i travel experience just as luxurious as the destination.

Extra Comfort seats include 13 more centimetres of legroom and 92 centimetres of seat pitch, handy for those who like to recline and stretch out for an in-flight snooze.

Guests with Extra Comfort bookings can also look forward to priority boarding at the gate, complimentary on-demand in-seat entertainment and a personal electrical power outlet to top up electronic devices mid-air. On international routes, a souvenir pillow and blanket set are also provided. Well worth the extra $122 (approx.) travellers will pay each way from Auckland to Honolulu.

The Extra Comfort offering is just part of Hawaiian Airline’s long-haul seating re-configuration of its A330 fleet. This year Hawaiian also revealed a refreshed interior cabin design, which takes travellers on a journey of Earth (First Class), Ocean (Extra Comfort) and Sky (Main Cabin). The new design tells the story of these essential elements of the Hawaiian Islands through the selection of materials, colours and patterns on board.

In addition to the new on-board design, international passengers travelling on the A330 in the main cabin from New Zealand now enjoy complimentary new release movies. Previously, passengers on these routes only had access to the unlimited television package and classic movies free of charge.

Hawaiian Airlines’ wide-body, twin-aisle Airbus aircraft seats 294 passengers, with 18 in First Class, 40 in Extra Comfort and 236 in the Main Cabin.

Hawaiian Airlines’ A330 amenities include personal on-demand entertainment system for each seat, comfortable legroom and a roomy interior.

Travellers also enjoy island-style complimentary meals and made-in-Hawai‘i snacks as part of the carrier’s signature onboard hospitality program, Mea Ho‘okipa (translation: I am host).

With an Auckland to Honolulu flight time of almost nine hours, there’s plenty of time to catch up on the latest blockbusters, enjoy a meal and squeeze in a snooze to power up for sun, sand and surf filled holiday.

Hawaiian Airlines’ generous baggage allowance of two x 32kgs means travellers can pack their favourite beach ensembles and still have enough space in their luggage to shop till they drop at Ala Moana Center in Honolulu, the world’s largest outdoor mall.

“We listened to what travellers want and the option to choose more legroom was a common request,” says Hawaiian Airlines executive vice president and chief commercial officer, Peter Ingram.

“By being able to pick and choose the products they value most, travellers can personalise their inflight experience and continue to enjoy our award-winning service and Hawaiian hospitality,” adds Peter.

Since launching in New Zealand in March 2013, Hawaiian Airlines has operated a three-times-a-week service from Auckland to Honolulu as the only North American carrier to fly from New Zealand.

Conveniently, Hawaiian Airlines offers connections to six neighbour island destinations: Kahului, Maui; Lihue, Moloka’I; Lanai’i Kauai and Kona and Hilo on the Big Island of Hawai’i. Hawaiian Airlines also brings mainland USA closer to New Zealand offering 11 great destinations via Honolulu. These destinations are: • New York City, New York • Las Vegas, Nevada • Los Angeles, California • San Francisco, California • Sacramento, California • San Jose, California • Oakland, California • San Diego, California • Seattle, Washington • Portland, Oregon • Phoenix, Arizona

Since launch, the number of Kiwis touching down in Hawai’i has increased by more than 140 percent, while the number of North American visitors travelling to New Zealand also jumped more than 10 per cent.

So as the rain pours over most parts of New Zealand and the mercury continues to drop, now is the perfect time to escape to Hawaii’s sandy beaches and amazing scenery with average temperatures of 28 degrees.
