- Hiking focused

If you don’t have two weeks up your sleeve but want to discover the best hiking trails in New Zealand, you’ll be amazed at what you can accomplish in just five days. On the ‘Takahe’ trip, you’ll hike three of New Zealand’s Great Walks, stay the night not only on the Fiordland Navigator on Doubtful Sound but also in the highly sought-after Milford Lodge Chalets and explore Fiordland’s hidden secrets.

After arriving in Queenstown, your trip begins in utmost style. Board the Fiordland Navigator and spend the day sailing through untouched nature, under towering cliffs and watch hundreds of waterfalls crash into the sea. As the Navigator anchors into a secluded cove for the night, you’ll begin to notice the elegant sounds of nature all around. Bird songs echo off cliffs, waterfalls thunder down and small gusts of wind whistle through the fiord.

As you awaken to the sun peaking over the mountains of Doubtful Sound, it’s hard to believe your adventure has just begun. Over the next four days you’ll hike sections of the Routeburn Track, Milford Track and Kepler Track, and see for yourself the stunning variety of landscapes present in Fiordland. Cruise Milford Sound, the 8th Wonder of the World; get up close to rare native birds at the Takahe Bird Park and finish your trip with a challenging hike up Ben Lomond in Queenstown.

Awaken your senses and discover the magic of Fiordland; this is one trip you’ll be recollecting for years to come.
