KIM GUTCHLAG
The LIANZA Letter of Recognition is awarded to Kim Gutchlag, Manager, Collection Development and Description at the National Library of New Zealand, to acknowledge her contribution to the review of the Copyright Act 1994.
During her many years in libraries Kim has developed considerable knowledge of copyright and is an active member of the LIANZA Standing Committee on Copyright. Kim recognised that the review of the Copyright Act was an important opportunity for LIANZA to influence change in the legislation and advocate for libraries about the copyright issues affecting them. Kim worked with the rest of the Standing Committee on Copyright to prepare LIANZA’S response to the copyright issues paper. She also led work on the National Library’s response, ensuring that both submissions were aligned and at the same time reflecting the different views of each organisation.
Kim’s work helped ensure that LIANZA was able to lobby for meaningful and flexible changes for an updated Copyright Act that benefits all New Zealanders.
LIANZA is pleased to recognise the significant and special service that Kim has provided to the library and information profession.
