Little Treasures - - NEWS -

As I write this, I have one more week to go before I drop off the face of the Earth to begin my nesting phase. That’s right, baby number two will soon be here! Things have been a little different this time around. When I was eagerly awaiting my first child, Poppy, we had a name, a nursery and a birth plan – everything felt organised and under control. This time... not so much! Between working, living and raising Poppy, it’s a lot harder to find the time to plan and obsess over the details. It’s given me a new appreciation for how large families and single parents cope. Managing the time and attention required to bring up their wee ones while working full-time jobs is a challenge. But ultimately one that we wouldn’t swap for the world. And so this issue is all about modern families – blended families, single-parent families and everything in between. There are so many inspiring broods out there and in this issue they share their secrets around how they make things work. It’s easy to get caught up and forget about fun so this issue is also all about fashion. We recently held our very first New Zealand Fashion Week show and it was a roaring success! We had some amazing families take part as our models – our Mum and Kids’ Show included a whole host of fun Kiwi mummy bloggers, celebrities and their gorgeous family members. Blogger Zoe Fuimaono from Blessed in Doubles sashayed down the runway alongside her two (yes, two!) sets of twins and her lovely husband; My Kitchen Rules judge Ben Bayly and son Bowie strutted their stuff; and Kara Rickard from George FM was joined by her beautiful daughter, Iver, showing the latest designs by Rock Your Bump and Dimples. The wonderful (and funny) Anika Moa belted out some tunes from her kids’ albums, Songs for Bubbas 1 and 2. And most important of all, I managed to make it from one end of the runway to the other without tripping once! Looking over the next year’s events, I already feel like I’ll miss being a part of the action, but I know I’ll love being part of the SAHM community again. If you’re looking for anything to do yourself, head to trea to discover what’s coming up. Until next time, enjoy the ride mamas. You’ve got this!
