WESTERN BAY OF PLENTY DISTRICT COUNCIL – WAIHĪ BEACH COMMUNITY BOARD
My principal place of residence is not in the Waihī Beach Community Board area.
Hi, I am Ross Goudie and live in the Waihī Beach/Katikati Ward. I wish to stand for the Waihī Beach Community Board again. I’m passionate about our Waihī Beach Community. I have served as Councillor for Waihī Beach, then Community Board Chairman for the last 3 yrs. I am very familiar with Beach issues.
In the last 3 years the Community Board has made major inroads into local issues. We now have a vibrant Livewell Waihī Beach project, put our library upgrade on Council’s agenda and got the Athenree walkway/cycleway to consenting stage. Extending our internal cycleways, plus progressing a connection to Waihī is a priority. However, with the District Plan imminent, we need our village plan updating, also flooding, and climate change issues need addressing. Waihi Beach is growing, and infrastructure needs are becoming apparent.
I wish to continue serving my community. I ask for your support.
Heather Marie Guptill

Heather and her family have lived in the Waihī Beach area for 20 years, attending schools, preschools and being part of many organisations within the area. Heather is a business owner who employs six staff members, and a Celebrant.
The last twenty years or so has seen a change in Waihī Beach from a sleepy little beachside village to a more permanent community with engaged residents who want their little piece of paradise to be the best place to live. This has meant a start to developing reserves into usable areas for all the family along with facilities to support our residents.
With the high rates we pay here, Heather sees ensuring the infrastructure is in place to cope with an increase in population, along with continuing to develop our community to support all ages and members of the family as her main focus.

Waihī Beach has been an important part of my life and the life of my family. Having spent 25 years holidaying here and the past 5 years as a permanent resident and business owner. I feel well and truly part of the community.
I have always taken a keen interest in the growth and development of our beautiful town and was invited by the Western Bay Council to take part in the last review of the Waihī Beach 10 year plan in 2019.
Having sat on the side lines for the past 5 years I feel now is the right time for me to step forward and bring new ideas and initiatives to the council. I will not be afraid to ask difficult questions especially in discussions that affect the growth and development of our area.
I look forward to representing our community.
